Céline Dion released “Ashes” on Thursday morning, a new song for the soundtrack to the upcoming Vancouver-shot movie Deadpool 2.
It’s the first English-language single from the Quebec native since 2016’s Pink-penned “Recovering” and Dion’s cover of Queen’s “The Show Must Go On.”
The Deadpool 2 soundtrack album – which also includes classic songs by a-ha, Cher, Dolly Parton, Air Supply, Pat Benatar and Peter Gabriel – is due out on May 18, the same day the movie opens.
The video features scenes of Dion on stage in an empty theatre interspersed with scene from the movie – starring fellow Canadian Ryan Reynolds – as well as shots of a dancing Deadpool. Yes, a dancing Deadpool.
It ends with a hilarious exchange between Reynolds and Dion.
"Celine! That was amazing. That was the most beautiful performance I have ever seen in my life," he says. "This is Deadpool 2, not Titanic," Reynolds tells the chanteuse. "You're at an 11. We need to get you down to a five, five-and-a-half tops. Just phone it in."
Dion's response is classic diva.
