Looking for a weekend pick-me-up? Look no further.
Toronto singer-songwriter Chris Assaad is spreading love — and sunflowers — in the video for his latest single, “Let Me Pick You Up.”
The track comes from Assaad’s new album I Won’t Die, which was produced by Bill Bell (Jason Mraz, Justin Nozuka).
“I seek to live a peaceful life where I can constantly be surrounded by love and positive energy,” Assaad shares on his website.
He also writes online about undergoing surgery to correct a hereditary condition that caused hearing loss.
“I can still perfectly remember leaving my doc’s office after my post-op appointment and getting into my car. I sat there for a moment and looked into the rear view, taking note of the moment and everything that had happened up to that point,” recalled Assaad.
“Bursting at the seams with anticipation, I finally reached for the radio. For the first time since the beginning of this intense and terrifying ordeal, I could really HEAR the music, and I could FEEL it.
“I sat in awe, tears rolling down my cheeks as the music made its way to my eardrums, my heart and my soul for what felt like the first time. I thanked God and listened with a heart full of gratitude for the miracle of my restored hearing, humbled by the second chance I’d been given.”
Assaad is set to perform this summer at the Emerge Festival in Pembroke, Ont., at the Lovin’ Local Food Fest in Toronto and at the Wanderlust Festival in Whistler, BC.
