Coldplay front man Chris Martin covered Paul Simon’s “Graceland” on Monday during a radio show in the UK.
Martin was backed by horns and singers for his rendition of the song, which was released in 1986 — when Martin was only 9 years old. He said he first heard the song when he was 10 while visiting his mother’s native Zimbabwe.
"I was trying to get the attention of a 10-year-old girl," Martin recalled. "There was no texting in those days, but she was doing the ‘80s equivalent of not texting me back and I remember this song playing and thinking ‘at least the music is awesome.’”
