With no concerts or music festivals, it is going to be a cruel, cruel summer.
“I don’t know about you guys, but so many songs have seemed to take on a new and deeper meaning during this time,” says Evanescence singer Amy Lee in a video the band recently posted.
For Lee, one of those songs is “Cruel Summer,” the early ‘80s hit from British pop act Bananarama.
Lee and guitarist Troy McLawhorn, in their respective homes, recorded a rather somber version of the track.
“We can’t wait to play for you live in the flesh again but until then stay safe, be well and take care,” Lee says at the end of the video. "We love you.”
Watch Lee and McLawhorn cover “Cruel Summer” below. Oh, and summer starts on Saturday (June 20).
