Foo Fighters are back with a surprise single, released Thursday (June 1), and a video directed by Dave Grohl. It features the band – Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee – as time-travellers. In it, they are dressed up as geriatric rockers playing the song to a group in a retirement home.
Their song incites a small-scale riot, as the retirees break out of the home. One older man borrows a vape pen and clouds up the entire street.
Together forever? The band addressed rumours that they were breaking up last year with fake documentary, where they stated in no uncertain terms: “For the millionth time, we’re not breaking up and nobody’s going f--king solo”.
“Run” is the first new music from the Foo Fighters since May’s release of the song “Sky is the Neighbourhood”. Their last EP was 2015’s Saint Cecilia, which they gifted free to fans. That followed on from their last full-length studio album, 2014’s Sonic Highways.
