Garth Brooks brought Kelly Clarkson to tears by playing a bit of Bob Dylan during an appearance on her daytime talk show.
The country music icon shared some of his favourite covers – including Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) the Dock of the Bay” and Bob Seger’s “Night Moves” – and showed how he copied the guitar lick from James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” for his own song “The River.”
Things took an emotional turn when Clarkson told Brooks she had no idea “To Make You Feel My Love” on his Fresh Horses album was a Bob Dylan song “like, until I was 20.”
Brooks then performed part of the song as Clarkson teared up.
“If you would have told me as a kid that that moment would have happened,” she said. “I’m sorry, whoo!
“I just can’t believe my life sometimes.”
