Gavin DeGraw is likely icing parts of his body this morning after falling face-first on the ice at Sunday’s Stanley Cup playoff game in Nashville.
“I didn’t realize singing the national anthem was a full-contact sport,” the 42-year-old singer wrote on Instagram, where he shared a clip of the slip. DeGraw included “#ImOkay.”
DeGraw's famous friends couldn't help but share their reactions.
“Your rendition of the anthem was excellent,” commented comedian Dane Cook. “Your rendition of Charlie Chaplin needs some work.”
Singer Andy Grammer claimed it was “the best thing I’ve ever seen” and iHeartRadio host Bobby Bones called it the “most patriotic fall I’ve ever seen.”
Country singer Carly Pearce admitted: “I’ve watched this 10 times.”
Richard Marx had kudos for DeGraw's performance – complete with an ice pun, of course. “Dude. That song is not for chickens**ts. I’m sure you CRUSHED it.”
Toronto-raised actor Giacomo Gianniotti commented: “Nothing greater than someone who can laugh at them selves and that my friend, was hilarious. And doesn’t change the fact you killed the song brother. Bravo!”
On Twitter, the NHL shared video of what it described as DeGraw’s “smashing” rendition of the U.S. national anthem – but cut out his spectacular fall.
