Godsmack singer Sully Erna, who recently released his second solo album, Hometown Life, spoke to iHeartRadio about the different sound.
The diverse 10 songs on the album range from "Different Kind of Tears," a tune with a country feel, to "Your Own Drum," which has a caribbean style to it.
Erna said he just writes "what comes to mind" and the song "develops on its own," and then he decides the style of it. He said he is very proud of the record because of the different "hints of genres" on it which make it a "universal album."

Erna also spoke about how Godsmack fans will react to the record, what the other members of Godsmack think of his album, how his dad (a trumpeter) wound up on this LP, how he decided on the instruments he includes on his songs, what he wants fans to take from Hometown Life, and more.
If you haven't yet, pick up Hometown Life. Sully is supporting the effort with a U.S. tour.
