Can you master the “The Hardest Karaoke Song in the World?”
Iceland’s tourism agency challenged visitors to sing “The A to Ö of Iceland,” which includes some difficult-to-pronounce Icelandic words and satirizes common perceptions of the nation.
“We are always looking for ingenious ways to inspire visitors to engage with more aspects of our country and our seven regions,” said Visit Iceland director Inga Hlín Pálsdóttir. “We have launched our new A-Ö campaign to explore our island using our unique language and alphabet.
“We know Icelandic is difficult to pronounce but through our karaoke film we wanted to encourage visitors to have a go and also show the world we are not afraid to laugh along.”
Iceland’s language has only ever been spoken by about a million people in its history — Bjork among them.
Visit Iceland is encouraging people around the world to submit videos of their attempts to conquer the lyrics of “The Hardest Karaoke Song in the World,” which is performed by comedian Steindi Jr.
