You may not be familiar with her name, but there’s a good chance you’ve heard a song written by 23-year-old Julia Michaels. Before launching her own solo career, Michaels was an in-demand songwriter.
Her credits include “Sorry” by Justin Bieber, “Close” and “Chainsaw” by Nick Jonas, “Kingdom Come” and “Waitin For You” by Demi Lovato. She was also behind the majority of Britney Spears’ Glory and Selena Gomez’s Revival.
With “Issues”, the Iowa native has peaked at no. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, and she’s eked her way into the top 10 in Australia, Norway, and Belgium.
In her video for “Issues”, released today (Mar. 8), Michaels sings about the highs and lows of being in a relationship. She sings, “I could love you just like that, and I could leave you just this fast."
