Calm down, Australia... Kacey Musgraves did a "shoey."
The country star made headlines this week after she showed extraordinary good taste by refusing to participate in a stinky Australian traditional of drinking from footwear.
“I’m not f**king drinking out of your shoe,” Musgraves told a Sydney crowd that was chanting “Shoey! Shoey!”
“Don’t do it to me. I’ve heard about this,” said Musgraves.
But, at a concert in Melbourne, the Grammy winner surprised the crowd by sipping from a stiletto.

While some Aussies took umbrage at Musgraves’ initial refusal in Sydney, others had her back.
Eves Karydas tweeted that Musgraves “managed to politely but firmly shut down a shoey request. Respect overload.” Brodie Lancaster joked that she was “calling the cops on everyone cheering for Kacey Musgraves to do a shoey.”
Another fan tweeted: “She handled it like a f**king pro. It’s gross guys and it was so cringy. Let’s nip this ‘tradition’ in the bud shall we.”

A shoey is a tradition Down Under that a handful of visiting artists have taken part in – Post Malone has done it more than once.
Others have taken a hard pass. “I’m not going to drink out of a bloody shoe,” Harry Styles said at one of his Australian concerts. “Are you mad?”
