Keith Urban has released a video for “Superman” that starts off with a nod to Norwegian band a-ha’s 1985 video for “Take On Me.”
“That’s one of my favourite videos of all time,” the country star told Variety. “Obviously trying to shoot a video right now is challenging, as any artist can testify.
"I was talking with Ben Dalgleish, who’s this really great creative designing artist in my world who put together our whole Vegas show that we did. We were talking about the a-ha ‘Take on Me’ video, and he said, ‘Well, what about a flipbook video?’ He hooked me up with a guy called Andymation, who has a really popular channel on YouTube, and we brought him to start work on the concept.”
Urban said he performed in front of a green screen inside his Nashville warehouse.
“Superman” is the fourth single from the singer’s new album The Speed of Now Part 1, which is due to arrive Sept. 18 after being delayed due to COVID-19.
