A newly-posted compilation of clips from The Voice Kids franchise shows how Canada’s Shawn Mendes has inspired a generation of aspiring pop stars.
The video shows young singers covering Mendes’ songs while appearing on The Voice Kids in seven countries.
On show’s German edition, Merdan auditioned in 2016 with “Stitches,” Andrej did “Three Empty Words” in 2017, and Chiara C. turned red chairs with “Mercy” in 2018.
On The Voice Kids Indonesia, Kesha (no, not that one) auditioned in 2017 with “Treat You Better.”
Last year, on The Voice Kids Colombia, Jacobo performed “Stitches” at the blind auditions.
During the Knock-Outs round on this year’s The Voice Kids Belgium, Max sang “Señorita” and Fleur performed “Mercy.”
Mendes’ first collaboration with Camila Cabello, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” was covered by Jean, Noa and Steff in the Battles round on The Voice Kids The Netherlands in 2017.
Earlier this year, the Battles rounds on The Voice Kids Brazil included a performance of “In My Blood” by Maria Alice Santana, Pedro Ogata and Victor Hugo Mendes (no relation).
And, on The Voice Kids Poland in 2018, Kuba Szmajkowski auditioned by singing “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” and got all the coaches to turn their chairs.
Szmajkowski, who made it to the finale but didn't win, is now one-quarter of the Polish boy band 4Dreamers.
