Kiesza took the wraps off a brand new song on Friday — and we’re digging it!
“Dearly Beloved” is just as infectious as the Canadian pop star’s breakout hit “Hideaway,” which was released nearly three years ago.
“I am absolutely ecstatic to be able to start off this new chapter with my new song,” the 27-year-old Calgary native tweeted.
Kiesza said the song was inspired by the death of her best friend Alice.
“Her white electric guitar was passed along to me,” she explained in a message to fans. “In her memory and because I love her so much, I promised myself that I would not let it sit in its case collecting dust. I was going to play the hell out of it, just as she would have done.
“So that’s what I’m doing.”
Kiesza plays the white guitar in the video for “Dearly Beloved,” which was directed by Supple Nam.
The track will be included on Kiesza’s upcoming album — her first since 2014’s Sound of a Woman, which earned her three Juno Awards.
“Dearly Beloved” has already garnered praise from Kiesza’s fans and some of her fellow Canadian artists.
“Oooh, new @Kiesza song is a JAM,” tweeted Arkells. “Dearly Beloved. Yes please.”
