Lady Gaga had a whirlwind ride on Carpool Karaoke with James Corden on Tuesday’s Late Late Show.
But before they got in the car, she hijacked his monologue.
It began with Gaga going onstage and saying she’s now “Lady Ha Ha.” She then joked that Donald Trump is launching a nightly news show on Facebook in which he’ll air his rallies. She said it was like her concerts, but as opposed to her Little Monsters, Trump has “actual Monsters.”
Lady Gaga added that the program is supposed to really “grab you by the p**sy.”
Corden then came out half-dressed and pretended he was upset that she was giving his monologue. After some more playing around, it was decided that Lady Gaga would stick around for the entire show. As the show went to commercial break before Carpool Karaoke, Lady Gaga sang her new song, "A-Yo."
Corden’s most popular recurring bit sees him “carpooling” to work with a famous music artist. Mariah Carey was the first to sit in the passenger seat, engaging in playful banter with the host while singing her hits together. Since then, everyone from Elton John and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Gwen Stefani and, most recently, Britney Spears have taken part.
Lady Gaga’s turn comes just days after the release of her new album, Joanne. And as it turned out, when the pop star and Corden hit traffic during their Carpool Karaoke, she had a serious case of road rage, which led her and the late-night host to do an impromptu rendition of Ludacris’ “Move Bitch.”
The mood lightened considerably with a spirited duet of Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” along with performances of “Perfect Illusion,” “The Edge Of Glory,” “Born This Way,” “Million Reasons,” and “Poker Face.”
The singer said she wrote “Poker Face” and a few other songs in just 10 minutes. She also talked about how she bought hundreds of articles of clothing from Michael Jackson’s estate. Corden and Lady Gaga also discussed her upcoming Super Bowl gig, and the two amusingly reenacted the singer getting the call to do the Halftime Show.
Most hilarious, though, was the late-night personality donning one of Lady Gaga’s signature looks and then quipping, “I love it. I mean, not ideal for driving, but I do feel alive.” But that wasn’t the only Lady Gaga outfit he wore. He also sported her infamous “meat dress.”
The two also discussed how Lady Gaga recently got her driver’s license. After that, they switched seats and the singer began to drive Corden. He later called her driving “terrifying,” and returned to the driver’s seat.
Before the show aired, Lady Gaga teased on Twitter, “I had so much fun driving @JKCorden to work, maybe I’ll stick around for some more fun…” And she did. The singer sat in with the house band and performed a few of her new songs. To see Lady Gaga’s full “Carpool Karaoke,” watch the video above.
