Metallica has released a video showing highlights of their rehearsals with Lady Gaga ahead of last February’s collaboration at the Grammy Awards.

“This is so exciting for me,” Gaga is heard saying. “My friends are going to hate me on Sunday.”

The band and the pop star performed “Moth Into Flame” from Metallica’s Hardwired… To Self-Destruct during the show — and made headlines due to a microphone malfunction that left frontman James Hatfield fuming.

Presenter Laverne Cox also failed to mention Metallica while introducing the performance.

In the rehearsal footage the band shared, Hetfield expresses surprise that Gaga relied on the bass line to find her pitch.

“Wow, a singer that appreciates bass,” he said.

Drummer Lars Ulrich shares some choreography tips, urging Gaga to “buzz around” the stage on Grammy night and get in close with the musicians.
