The last time Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell sang their Temple of the Dog duet "Hunger Strike" in public was in 2014 at the Bridge School Benefit when both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden appeared on the same bill.
As Rolling Stone's Andy Green puts it, "a reunion was practically inevitable."
Cornell died on May 17 at 52.
Near the end of Pearl Jam's acoustic set, Vedder asked the crowd, "Are there any more singer's back there?"
"There's a lot of types of singers. How about a Chris Cornell-type? This right here is the best Chris Cornell-type singer you'll ever hear."
Cornell walked on stage to cheers from the audience and sat beside Vedder on a stool to sing "Hunger Strike," the hit single from Temple of the Dog's lone album in 1991.
