Lil Pump apologized Tuesday for using a racist gesture in a video clip he shared last week on social media.
The 18-year-old rapper was accused of mocking Asians after he pulled back the corners of his eyes in a preview of a track titled “Butterfly Doors,” in which he raps: “They call me Yao Ming ‘cause my eyes real low…Ching Chong.”
In a video message on Christmas, Lil Pump (whose real name is Gazzy Garcia) said: “I seen the whole thing going on on the internet and all that. I came here to tell you from my part that I’m sorry and I apologize for posting that.
“It was not my intentions to hurt nobody or do none of that. I got Asian homies, you know. I f**k with everybody and I got nothing against nobody. It’s all love.”
Lil Pump did not say whether he plans to scrap the track or revise the lyrics.
