Lorde added her voice this week to those celebrating Australia’s vote in support of equal marriage rights.
The New Zealand singer was performing in Sydney on Nov. 21 when she wrapped herself in a rainbow flag and started singing Whitney Houston’s hit “I Want To Dance With Somebody.”
Lorde told the cheering crowd: “I’m very proud of you.”

In a non-binding vote earlier this month, 61.6 per cent of 12.7 million people said “yes” to extending marriage rights to same sex couples.
Marking the moment on stage, Lorde got emotional. “This is the crying show,” she said. “I don’t know if you know that.”
