Loretta Lynn made a surprise appearance at Sunday’s Country Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Nashville — only five months after suffering a stroke.
The 85-year-old icon showed up to help honour Alan Jackson.
“The first time I ever met Alan, he looked like a scared little boy," said Lynn. “He was practicing backstage, going through his songs, and I remember I looked at him and said, 'You're going to be one of the greatest singers in country music.' He hasn't let me down.”
Lynn was forced to cancel several shows and postpone the release of her new album Wouldn’t It Be Great following her stroke. In a Facebook message at the time, she told fans that she “ain’t dead yet” and “can’t wait to see all of you on the road!”
Other inductees at Sunday night’s ceremony were singer-actor Jerry Reed and songwriter Don Schlitz.
