Texas country trio Midland have shared the video for their debut single “Drinkin’ Problem”, and it’s a charming rejuvenation of traditional country music.
Lead singer Mark Wystrach, bass player Cameron Duddy and guitarist Jess Carson only released their self-titled EP in February, but they are already making waves in the country sphere.
The single, which has been making the country radio rounds on over 45 stations, subverts the country trope of being prone to drink. “People say I got a drinking problem/ That ain't no reason to stop/ People saying that I've hit rock bottom/ Just cause I'm living on the rocks,” sings Wystrach.
The video was directed by Duddy, who has also created videos for artists like Rita Ora, Jennifer Lopez and Bruno Mars.
Midland is slated to open for country legends Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on select dates for their Soul2Soul World Tour. Watch the video for “Drinkin’ Problem” below:
