Country singer Mitchell Tenpenny on Wednesday premiered the video for his new single “Broken Up.”
Directed by Justin Key, it stars a real-life couple (to comply with COVID-19 regulations for film projects in Tennessee).
“Justin nailed the raw emotions between the characters in the video,” Tenpenny said, in a release. “The tension in the fight scene is fierce, just like break ups can be. It’s a great three-minute film.”
Written by Tenpenny with Devin Dawson, Kyle Fishman and Ernest Keith Smith, “Broken Up” was debuted during a streaming special in July.
“Normally I break up better, but baby not this time / Yeah, I don’t know what to do about it,” sings Tenpenny. “I’m laying in bed about it / Yeah, I’m trying to keep my cool about it / Get out of my head about it.”
