Lil Dicky and a slew of music stars are hoping to help save the planet with a song.
“Earth,” which premiered overnight, came with a video that features an animated version of the rapper overseeing an all-star collection of animals.
Canada is represented by Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes and Tory Lanez – and the song has contributions from artists like Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Adam Levine, Charlie Puth, Sia, Miley Cyrus and Halsey.
“Earth, it is our planet / We love the Earth,” the chorus goes. “It is our home / We love the Earth / It is our planet.”
The video, which runs a little more than seven minutes, was directed by Nigel Tierney and Federico Heller and begins with a live-action sequence that morphs into animation when a boy opens a book he finds in the trash.
But don’t let the animation fool you – this isn’t a video for young kids. There are numerous expletives and a depiction of an erection. Bieber, as a baboon, declares “my anus is huge” and skunk Wiz Khalifa refers to spraying from his “butthole.”
Zac Brown is a cow who reminds us that we “drink milk from my tits” and Panic! At The Disco’s Brendon Urie describes himself as “a fat f**king pig.”
Mendes sings “We’re just some rhinos, horny as heck” and Miguel is a squirrel reaching between the legs of another squirrel “looking for my next nut.”
Lil Yachty shows up as the human papillomavirus. Really.
Snoop Dogg appears in the form of a marijuana plant that “can get you f**ked up” and Lil Jon says: “What the f**k, I’m a clam?!”
For his part, Lil Dicky serves up decidedly mixed messages. “These days it’s like we don’t know how to act,” he says. “All these shootings, pollution, we under attack on ourselves / Like let’s all just chill and respect what we built.”
Later, when Bieber asks if we’re all going to die, Lil Dicky replies: “We might die. I’m not going to lie to you. There are so many people who don’t think global warming’s a real thing. You know, we’ve got to save this planet. We’re being stupid.”
But, those messages about saving the planet are interspersed with seemingly unrelated verses designed to titillate. “Fellows, don’t you let her c*m when you have sex / And I heard women’s orgasms are better than a d**k’s.”
Lil Dicky also explains that despite being on the planet a long time, Man still “don’t know s**t” but appreciates modern clothing because it covers up “human d**k” (cue the animated erection).
Proceeds from the track will be distributed to environmental organizations in consultation with Leonardo DiCaprio’s eponymous foundation. (The actor appears in the video in animated form to declare: “This might be my favourite song ever. It’s awesome.”
