A brand new trailer for the highly anticipated Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody was released on Tuesday.
It boldly kicks off with a mashup of two big Queen hits – vocals from the title track against the beat of "We Will Rock You."
The trailer follows a 97-second teaser that debuted in May. That one was publicly criticized by director Bryan Singer for downplaying Mercury's sexuality and battle with AIDS. The new trailer includes clips that seem to suggest the film doesn't shy away from reality.
"Roger, there's only room in this band for one hysterical queen," Mercury, played by Rami Malek, tells his bandmate Roger Taylor in one scene. In another, he is asked about his private life at a press conference. Mercury is also seen asking: "What if I don't have time?"
Mercury died in 1991.
In addition to Malek, Bohemian Rhapsody stars Gwilym Lee as Brian May, Ben Hardy as Taylor and Joseph Mazzello as former bassist John Deacon.
“Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet,” reads the studio’s official description of the movie.
“The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury’s lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music.”
Bohemian Rhapsody is due in cinemas on Nov. 2.
