Pearl Jam performed a cover of David Bowie’s 1974 classic “Rebel Rebel” for the first time on Saturday night at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.
Frontman Eddie Vedder, a longtime Chicago Cubs fan, recounted the time he attended the team’s World Series winning game in 2016, before welcoming Cubs co-owner Tom Ricketts to the stage.
The Bowie cover was inspired by Cubs all-star rookie David Bote, whom Vedder displayed on video screens, before segueing to a similar-sounding all-star “David Bowie," according to Rolling Stone.
