Post Malone had most of Midtown New York saying "wow" Tuesday (July 18) evening as he became the first ever artist to perform at the newly christened TSX Stage.
With a giant countdown clock ticking down, Postie appeared on the giant stage at 5:30, literally bringing Times Square to a halt. After kicking things off with his latest single "Overdrive" and 2019 smash "Circles," he addressed the thousands on hand to watch.
“I’m the first guy to do this, and I was super terrified because I know everyone has a busy day and a busy schedule,” he admitted. “I have a new album coming out later this month and I’m super excited to play you something off the new record that hasn’t been released yet. Hopefully, I don’t f**k it up.”
The 18-minute pop-up concert also saw him perform a new one, "Enough is Enough," from his forthcoming album, Austin (out July 28), as well as other career highlights such as "Sunflower," "Chemical" and "Congratulations."
According to TSX Entertainment co-CEO Nick Holmsten, the gig marks the first of many to come for the brand new venue. "This iconic moment not only marks the beginning of a new era for live performances in Times Square but also showcases our commitment to providing unique and unforgettable experiences for fans around the world,” Holmsten announced.
Post Malone's next stop is Toronto, where he'll perform two shows (July 19 and 20) at Budweiser Stage.
