The Prince estate on Thursday released an animated video for “Holly Rock,” one of the tracks on the posthumous collection Originals.
The song, co-written by Prince and Sheila E., was recorded by Sheila E. in 1985 for the soundtrack to Krush Groove, a film loosely based on the early days of Def Jam Recordings. Only 1,000 copies of the soundtrack album were released on CD.
Prince’s version of “Holly Rock” is one of 15 tracks on Originals. The singer died in 2016 at 57.
The new video, directed by Aaron Lampert, was animated by Nicolette van Gendt, Duncan Gist, Reg Isaac and Andrea Simonti.
