The Pussycat Dolls took some of the chill out of winter on Friday by releasing a steamy video for their first new song in a decade, “React.”
Nicole Scherzinger, Jessica Sutta, Kimberly Wyatt, Ashley Roberts and Carmit Bachar bring the heat in the visual from directing duo Bradley & Pablo that pays homage to the PCD’s 2005 video for “Buttons.”
“This video is for all of the fans,” Scherzinger tweeted. “Thank you for your patience and sticking by us all these years.”
The track, which the PCD performed on X Factor: Celebrity last November, comes ahead of their Unfinished Business Tour in the UK, Australia and New Zealand in April and a planned North American tour. The only original member not participating is Melody Thornton.
“Returning to the Dolls has been a complete 180 that has brought back all the good and elevated our work to another level," said Scherzinger, in a release. "We are women who are on the other side of a lot life experiences – it has given us so much perspective and growth. And then being able to release our music independently at this moment in time feels incredibly empowering.”
The Pussycat Dolls released their debut album PCD in 2005 and made a splash with hit singles “Don’t Cha” and “Stickwitu.” They followed with Doll Domination in 2008. There were two headlining tours but neither included North America. (They opened for The Black Eyed Peas on a U.S. tour in 2006; for Christina Aguilera in the U.S. and Canada in 2007; and for Britney Spears in the U.S. and Canada 2009.)
In early February 2010, Roberts, Sutta, Wyatt and Thornton left the group and were replaced by four new members – but when Scherzinger left later in the year, the group was done.
