Queen + Adam Lambert are previewing their first live album with a video of a performance of “The Show Must Go On.”
Live Around The World, out Oct. 2, will feature highlights from more than 200 shows Brian May and Roger Taylor have performed with Lambert as well as the band’s full set at February’s Fire Fight Australia benefit.
The performance of “The Show Must Go On” by Queen + Adam Lambert comes from their July 4, 2018 concert at London’s O2 Arena.
The original version of the song, penned by May, was recorded in 1990 as Freddie Mercury battled AIDS. Mercury, who died in November 1991, never got to sing it on stage. It was performed by Elton John at a tribute concert in 1992.
Lambert, in a release, spoke about the song’s message. “We all have moments in life where we feel the odds are against us and the climb is a steep one,” he said. “I always sense a great cathartic release throughout the audience during this song.
“We all recognize that it was a big statement for Freddie at that point in his journey as well: He was fighting for his life.”
