A teaser trailer for the forthcoming Aretha Franklin biopic Respect showcases Jennifer Hudson as the late Queen of Soul.
The 90-second taste, which debuted during the BET Awards on Sunday night, shows Hudson performing the title song on stage interspersed with a handful of scenes from the film, which was directed by Liesl Tommy.
Hudson, who finished seventh on Season 3 of American Idol, won an Oscar for playing Effie White in the 2006 film Dreamgirls. She released three studio albums between 2008 and 2014.
Respect, which is set for release in December, also stars Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Forest Whitaker, Mary J. Blige and Marc Maron.
Franklin died in August 2018 at 76.
Another music icon is heading to the big screen later this year. The Lee Daniels film The United States vs. Billie Holiday, which was shot in Montreal, stars singer Andra Day as jazz singer Billie Holiday.
