Coldplay's video for "Yellow" is as simplistic as it is iconic, which has led it to be copied and/or spoofed multiple times over the years.
The music video was shot back in 2000 at the beaches of Studland Bay in Dorset, UK and features one continuous shot of frontman Chris Martin singing the song as dusk turns to dawn.
The video has been remade on a couple different occasions, by indie act Ian Sweet for their cover, as well as Tegan and Sara for their different song of the same name.
Now, English rockers IDLE have taken things up a notch with their official video for new single "Grace." They haven't recreated or remade the video, they've straight up jacked it and made Martin sing along to their song!
While this seems like the work of AI trickery, it is but also with a twist: they brought in Chris Martin to help out.
According to the band on socials, "The idea for this video came to Joe [Talbot, singer] in a dream." Adding, "Thank you to Chris & @coldplay for making it a reality. Love is the thing."
Talbot says he reached out to Martin directly for permission to use the video, which Martin not only granted, but insisted on helping train the AI software in order to make it look as though he was singing the words to "Grace" himself.
