Sam Smith channels the 2014 film Birdman in his new video.
Directed by Joe Connor, the video for “One Last Song” appears as one continuous shot, as Smith makes his way through a London theatre to its rooftop.
The song’s message to an ex is clear. “Here’s one last song for you / And I hope it makes you feel / And I hope it makes you burn / And I hope it reminds you of how much it hurt,” Smith sings.
Birdman, which won Best Picture at the Oscars, starred Michael Keaton and was almost entirely set in a New York theatre. It was made to look like it was shot in one continuous take (thanks to visual effects by Montreal’s Rodeo FX).
“One Last Song” is the latest single from Smith’s hit album The Thrill of It All.
