What do you get when you combine a catchy tune from Serena Ryder with images of adorable dogs? The cutest video of the holiday season, of course!
Ryder unwrapped the video for “Christmas Kisses” on Wednesday. Directed by Lisa Mann, it features some canine social media stars as well as rescues from the Ontario SPCA.
The track was co-written by Ryder and Simon Wilcox for her holiday album of the same name, which was produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin. On it, Ryder sings classics like “Let It Snow,” “White Christmas” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.”
“Jazz music has always been one of my biggest vocal influencers,” Ryder explained, in a release. “When I was a young girl, I would spend hours upon hours locked away in my room listening and singing to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simon and Chet Baker.
“It’s been a dream of mine to be able to sing an entire album in this style – and also a dream to be able to embrace the spirit of Christmas in a genuinely joyful way.”
Ryder is sharing the holiday spirit this month with shows in Halifax, Charlottetown and Moncton.
