Sophia Grace wants the world to know she’s no longer the cherubic tutu-wearing girl who appeared regularly on Ellen with her cousin Rosie McClelland.
“I’m not that person anymore and they always ask me to go back to how I was, but I’m different and that’s not who I am,” Grace, 15, says in the opening moments of the video for her new rap single “Can’t Sleep.”
“So I want to show people I’m a different person now and I’ve changed.”
Grace shot to fame in 2011 when she and McClelland posted a cover of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” on YouTube that went viral and made them Ellen favourites.
She went solo with “Girls Just Gotta Have Fun” and “Best Friends” – songs with videos that have racked up a combined 294 million views on YouTube – and signed a deal with Capital Records France.
