Tame Impala put a psychedelic spin on Canadian singer Nelly Furtado’s 2006 hit “Say It Right” for BBC Radio 1.
Kevin Parker, backed by two musicians, recorded the cover – as well as “Is It True” and “Breathe Deeper” from his album The Slow Rush – in Perth, Australia.
“Say It Right,” which Furtado wrote with producer Timbaland and Nate “Danja” Hills, was from Furtado’s third studio album Loose and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Last month, Furtado celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut album Whoa, Nelly! with a digital Expanded Edition that has 10 additional tracks including remixes of her hits “I’m Like a Bird” and “Turn Off the Light.”
“WOW! 20 years! How did this happen? So excited!,” she tweeted. “Thanks for all the love over the years. Feeling so grateful, and looking forward to making more pop music in the future."
