Today marks the first of Taylor Swift's string of shows at London, England's at Wembley Stadium. So hyped is the Square Mile that even royalty is rolling out the red carpet for her visit.
Hours before her first show, Buckingham Palace paid tribute to the superstar by having its military band cover her 2014 hit "Shake It Off" on its grounds.
Posting a video to its official Instagram, the The Royal Family acknowledged the performance as "Changing of the Guard (Taylor’s Version)" and captioning it with "Can’t stop, won’t stop groovin’🫡🥁🎺."
Even the British Army got in on the fun, posting a comment to point out that "coincidentally the motto of The Rifles is ‘Swift and Bold’ #TaylorSwiftAndBold."
This warm welcome comes after it was reported that Swift's shows are expected to boost London's economy by £300m ($520m CAD), according to the Greater London Authority (GLA).
Swift is performing more concerts in London than any other city on the tour. Aside from the three shows this weekend (June 21 - 23), she will return to Wembley for five more dates in August (15 - 20). Altogether the eight sold-out shows will be attended by approximately 640,000 fans.
Mayor Sadiq Khan said he is "delighted" by Swift's decision to give his city such "a huge boost to our hospitality industry and [provide] further proof that London is the greatest city in the world to watch live music."
