Three Days Grace has taken the pop out of “Somebody That I Used To Know” and given it an edge befitting the song’s lyrics.
“The first time I heard ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ I got goosebumps,” recalled frontman Matt Walst, in a release. “This has only happened to me a few times in my life. I remember listening to it over and over and just being happy.”
The original song was written, produced and performed by Belgian-Australian singer Gotye (aka Wally de Backer) and released in 2011. It samples jazz guitarist Luiz Bonfá's 1967 track “Seville” and features vocals by Kimbra.
The cover is the first new music from Three Days Grace since the release of the band’s 2018 album Outsider. It premiered Wednesday with a video directed by Mike Filsinger.
