Hurricanes, threats of nuclear war, and an unstable old man in charge of America — we need to take a deep breath and lose ourselves in something completely ridiculous.
Here's a pair of videos that will remind you that not everything in life has to be so serious (and that there are people out there with a lot of time on their hands).
The first distraction is Michael Jackson’s classic “Thriller” video – with all the music tracks taken out.
Posted in late July by a guy named Mel, who goes by Red Rhythm on YouTube, the video is on its way to 1 million views.
So, what do you get when you take the music out of “Thriller”? A lot of a cappella Jackson, of course, and a lot of zombie footstep sounds. It’s actually quite compelling.
The second video, from a YouTube user who goes by “It’s a small world,” is a cover of this summer’s ubiquitous hit “Despacito,” performed on two calculators.
Posted earlier this month, it’s already been viewed nearly half-a-million times.
The instruments are AR-7778 calculators, which are available in China and can apparently play up to 20 different tunes. (Previous calculator covers by this YouTuber include Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” and Justin Bieber’s “Friends.”)
