The long-awaited trailer for Timothée Chalamet's Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, is here.
The teaser opens with Chalamet singing his 1963 protest song "A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall" on stage, as it accompanies a montage of scenes featuring Dylan and his lovers Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro) and Sylvie Russo (Elle Fanning as a fictionalized interpretation of former girlfriend Suze Rotolo).
Rounding out the cast are Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Scoot McNairy as Woody Guthrie, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, P. J. Byrne as Harold Leventhal, Dan Fogler as Albert Grossman and Will Harrison as Bob Neuwirth.
Directed by James Mangold, who made the Oscar-winning 2005 Johnny Cash biopic, Walk The Line, A Complete Unknown is based on Elijah Wald’s 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric!: Newport, Seeger, Dylan, and the Night That Split the Sixties.
The film has been in the works since at least 2020, when it was announced that Chalamet would portray the lengendary folk singer.
Here is the official synopsis: Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 60s, A Complete Unknown follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan’s (Timothée Chalamet) meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts – his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation – culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.
