Vancouver’s The Matinée unveiled a pretty cool video Monday for its single “Dancing On Your Grave.”
The video, directed by Matt Leaf, uses Google Tilt Brush technology to add neon colours to an otherwise simple setting. It’s all thanks to VR technician Shane McLeod and Tilt Brush artist Hannah MacAulay.
The vibrant colours are perfect in a video for a song celebrating the life of vocalist Matt Layzell’s late grandfather.
“Dancing On Your Grave” is also the title track of The Matinée’s upcoming album, which drops Feb. 17. It’s the follow-up to 2013’s We Swore We’d See The Sunrise and last year’s EP Broken Arrows.
Layzell said the 11 songs on the record (chosen from over 40 they crafted) were written as band members were going through big life changes.
In addition to Layzell, The Matinée consists of guitarists Matt Rose and Geoff Petrie and drummer Peter Lemon.
