Weezer and Fall Out Boy faced off in an episode of Celebrity Family Feud that aired Sunday night.
Since both are four-piece bands, Weezer added music producer/engineer Suzy Shinn to its team and FOB brought along actor Seth Green.
The show was taped in February, just four months before Weezer and FOB were scheduled to hit the road with Green Day on the Hella Mega Tour (it has been postponed until 2021 due to COVID-19).
Up for grabs was $25,000 (all figures U.S.) for the winning band’s charity of choice (Weezer selected environmental charity Reverb; Fall Out Boy chose its own Fall Out Boy Fund).
Before taking their places at the buzzers in the first round, FOB’s Pete Wentz and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo embraced. "I think that's the first time we ever hugged,” Wentz said, prompting Cuomo to respond: “Maybe the last time.”
Fall Out Boy was the first to collect 300 points to win the game.
In the show-ending "Fast Money" round, Wentz managed to collect 84 points and Stump got 71 – 45 points short of the 200 required for the grand prize.
Instead, FOB earned $10,000 for its charity and Celebrity Family Feud made an unspecified donation to Weezer’s.
