In the fight to avoid COVID-19, experts are recommending people wash their hands for at least 20 seconds – or roughly the time it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice.
More appropriate songs, though, might be “Everything Sucks” by Canada’s Scott Helman or “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor.
Now there’s a website that makes that possible: Wash Your Lyrics.
“I made a little site in 24h that generates hand washing instructions accompanied by lyrics from a song of your choice instantly,” tweeted William Gibson, a 17-year-old from Northamptonshire, England.
Gibson told BBC News: "It just felt so sad singing Happy Birthday to myself every time I washed my hands.”

Users can enter the title of any song and its artist to generate a custom poster of the 13-step hand washing instructions from the UK’s National Health Service.
Helman did one “Everything Sucks” and Miley Cyrus created one for her 2009 anthem “The Climb.” Troye Sivan made one using his 2018 track “My My My!” And blink-182 used the words to their 1999 hit “All The Small Things.”
MTV made one using the words to Harry Styles’ “Fine Line.”
The most popular songs, according to Gibson, are “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” and “All Star” by Smash Mouth.
