Jonah Marais of boy band Why Don’t We says he tested positive for COVID-19 on July 13.
“It’s been really hard on me. It’s kind of kicked my ass,” the 22-year-old singer said in a message via Instagram Story. “I was having constant fevers and waking up just feeling super weak and unable to get out of bed all day. I had to make myself eat and was kind of living in a constant state of misery for awhile.”
Marias said he expects to make a full recovery – “I’m through the worst of it,” he said – reminded his young fans that COVID-19 can infect anyone. “I’m healthy and it’s really had an impact on me,” he said.

Almost a year ago, Marais took to Instagram to show his transformation from skinny to toned thanks to working out regularly and eating well.
On Thursday, he urged Why Don’t We fans to be safe. “If you care about people of colour, wear a mask. If you care about yourself, wear a mask,” he said.
“If you care about being a good person, wear a mask, please.”
