Jay-Z and Beyoncé apparently got a kick out of Will Smith slapping a man who kissed him at a 2012 movie premiere.
Smith was on a red carpet in Moscow promoting Men in Black 3 when Ukrainian TV personality Vitalii Sediuk kissed him after asking Smith for a hug. The actor shoved Sediuk away and then slapped him with the back of his hand.
In a new interview, Smith said Jay-Z told him: “I just saw the video of you slapping the dude in Russia, I just want you to know you’ll never make a better piece of entertainment. It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Me and B, we got a show tonight, but we thinking about canceling and just staying in and just watching you slap this dude.”
The recollection came during Smith’s interview on the Rap Radar podcast.
He also showed some love for Drake, who he said “has had the most interesting success in the last four or five years,” and for Kanye West. “He’s willing to take the smashdown in order to push ideas,” Smith said “He’s making people think, even in the twisted, backhanded success of Donald Trump.”
Smith talked about making new music, including a project called “The Mountaintop.”
He explained: “The idea is...I’ve been to the top of money, I’ve had all the sex that I’ve ever wanted, I’ve had all of the adoration. I’ve been to the top of all those material world mountains and nothing makes you happy other than being useful to others. That’s it. That’s the only thing that ever will satisfy that thing, is that what you’re doing is useful.”
