Wynonna Judd revealed this week that she recently made contact with her half-brother for the first time.

“I have a brother I’ve never met and I called him,” she told radio host Andy Cohen. “He lives in Kentucky and his name is Michael.”

Michael, 53, is the son of Charles Jordan, a former boyfriend of Judd’s mother Naomi.

Judd, whose real name is Christina Ciminella, said she found out in 1993 that Jordan was her biological father, not Michael Ciminella, the father of her sister Ashley Judd.

“I had to decide whether I was better or bitter,” she explained.

Judd told Cohen her phone call to her half-brother has inspired her musically.

“I called him on his birthday and I said ‘Hi’ and I have it on tape. I have the recording of me saying ‘Hi, this is your sister’ and I’ve never said that before,” she recalled. “And I’m going to put it in the middle of a song somewhere, that’s the way I work. I apply real life to my stuff.

“That’s what country music is, we’re stories about real life.”
