Former One Direction star Zayn Malik is mourning the loss of his 5-year-old cousin Arshiya, who died after battling a brain tumour for several years.
The little girl's mom, Zileh, shared a photo of her on Instagram with the caption: "An angel wrote in the book of life my baby's date of birth, then whispered as she closed the book.. 'Too beautiful for earth' R.I.P baby doll.."
According to the Daily Mail, Zayn and Arshiya were really close despite their age difference, and the two were even photographed with his ex-girlfriend, Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, on her 21st birthday in 2014.
The singer has yet to comment on her death.
Following the tragic news, Zayn's fans showed their love and support by reaching out to the singer and his family via Twitter. "We're sending big love & support to the Malik family during this tragic time. She'll be missed," one fan account wrote.
