Lady Gaga declared a “pop emergency” on social media on Thursday ahead of the premiere of the video – or “short film” as she called it – for her new single “911.”
The song comes from Chromatica and follows singles “Stupid Love,” “Rain On Me” ft. Ariana Grande and “Sour Candy.”
Gaga performed “911,” which is about her need to take the antipsychotic medication olanzapine, as part of her epic medley on the MTV VMAs last month.
The pop star told Billboard that making the video last month required her to relive the feelings she had when she wrote it (with BloodPop, Madeon and Justin Tranter).
“Freedom for me is when I can go to the darkest part of my heart, visit things that are hard and then leave them behind,” she said. “Give them to the world, and spin all the pain into a puddle of gold.”
