Brothers Cory and Jeff Papineau made money running a lemonade stand as kids; now, as adults, the Ottawa natives are paying homage to their lifelong creative partnership by calling their country music duo Lemon Cash. The fast-rising band, swiftly gathering fans and industry attention, have honed their live show into an energetic, fan-pleasing spectacle, and are now getting ready to release their debut on Sakamoto Music/Warner Music Canada.

In December 2021, following their impressive set at the Sakamoto Mixer during the 2021 CCMAs, Lemon Cash signed with Sakamoto Agency. The following year, they played as much as they could, including an ambitious nine shows in 10 days at the Calgary Stampede, as well as The Women's Show in Ottawa, Manitoulin CountryFest, Cochrane Summerfest, Rock N Country By The Lake, and Coulee Fest at Lethbridge College. They also released “It Ain’t Me It’s You,” a high energy and catchy summer song, produced by Dan Swinimer (JoJo Mason, Sacha, Madeline Merlo), who is working with the pair on their full album.

In 2023, they have already performed at the Men's World Curling Championships in Ottawa, the Ottawa Senators’ Fan Appreciation Day, plus other shows and festivals, as well as signing to Sakamoto Music.

Their first single with the label, “Breakup Song,” written by Lemon Cash, Wes Mack and Dan Swinimer, playfully and triumphantly acknowledges “I got the hatchback/You got your freedom,” and, without one sorrowful note, declares, “You got your breakup song,” even if he does sing “I’m never gonna be okay with how this ends.” It’s a propulsive, moving-on eff-you, sure to turn tears to big waves of “see ya” when played in concert.
