Already a social media juggernaut, “I’m not Pretty” began life (inconspicuously enough) as a snippet of a song posted by JESSIA to TikTok. The reaction to this rebellious body positivity anthem — showcasing JESSIA’s super-soulful voice and wildly relatable lyrics — was huge and instant. So much so that JESSIA immediately wrote the song and recorded it with producer Elijah Woods, taking it from conception to completion in 72 hours.
On release, the buzz around “I’m not Pretty” exploded, with supermodel, body activist, and public figure Ashley Graham declaring on Instagram “LOVE THIS!” Countless others echoed that sentiment, indicating JESSIA has hit a powerful nerve with the track.
