Mayors in Hamilton and GTA want mandatory face covering rule
The GTHA Mayors and Chairs met this afternoon to discuss ways to fight COVID-19.
The group unanimously agreed to request the Government of Ontario to implement a mandatory face covering measure for large municipalities.
They think the order should apply to indoor public settings and would include appropriate exceptions for age and health.
Mayor Fred Eisenberger says they strongly encourage everyone to wear a mask wherever physical distancing is not possible.
He says they will continue to look at increasing the mandatory wearing of masks, and he's encouraging the province to adopt a consistent approach to mask wearing regionally and across Ontario.
